课程描述
Course Description
(within 300 words)
In the editors’ introduction to their ‘Polity Handbook on Transnational Governance’ (2011), Hale & Held focus on the growing demand for global governance given exponential global crisis & change, especially the rise of the global South symbolized by the BRICS. This summer class treats global governance before & after the current crisis/BRICS: the transition from international organization/law towards diverse, hybrid patterns of governance involving a fluid range of heterogeneous actors such as MNCs, NGOs & think tanks. Emerging economies, powers & societies are increasingly salient & novel forms of public diplomacy are increasingly efficacious even if not authoritative. The literature on global governance grows every year such as Harman & Williams (Routledge 2013) & Weiss & Wilkinson (Routledge, 2014)
